MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – At least six people including government soldiers and civilians have been killed and several others wounded in two bomb blasts in Mogadishu.
According to witnesses, an Improvised Explosive device (IED) suspected to have been planted on a roadside has hit a military vehicle carrying military officials on the outside of Mogadishu, killing two soldiers and injuring four others.
The second blast killed six people and wounded eight others at a teashop in Badbaado internally displaced camp. The blast was reportedly caused IED buried near the shop.
Somali authorities have not yet commented on the explosions.
Both explosions were claimed by the al-Shabaab group, saying the targets were government. The group claimed to have more than ten soldiers in the explosions.
The incidents come amid Somali forces backed by troops from the African Union transitional Mission in Somalia (Atmis) renewed offensives against Al-Shabaab fighters in central and southern Somalia.
