MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – A high level EU delegation led by EU’s special envoy to the Horn of Africa Annette Weber has arrived in Mogadishu airport on Wednesday.
It was the first EU’s special envoys for Africa to visit Somalia since 1991 when the central Government led by the late Mohamed Siyad Barre was toppled.
The delegation was welcomed at the airport by Somali government officials before escorting them to Villa Somalia.
Ambassador Weber and other EU officials held talks with Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud. Weber congratulated President Hassan over his victory. The head of the EU mission in Somalia Tiina Intelmann was in attendance.
Somali president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud who was elected mid this month has been holding talks with international community representatives in Mogadishu to discuss on the cooperation and ways to enhance relations.
