MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – Somalia has received more than than 286,650 doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine.
The doses, donated by the U.S. through the gavi, will be used to curb the spread of the pandemic.
“The United States Embassy in Mogadishu is pleased to announce the delivery of 286,650 doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine, the fifth such delivery, donated to Somalia by the United States via gavi in partnership with UNICEF, the AfricanUnion, and COVAX. unicefsomalia,” US embassy in Mogadishu.
This consignment is part of the United States’ commitment to respond to international efforts to combat COVID-19, through the distribution of the vaccine.
According to President Biden, the United States is committed to international immunization efforts, to save the lives of the Somali people and to end the Covid19.
The United States has pledged to provide 1.1 billion COVID-19 vaccines worldwide.
So far, the United States has delivered more than 500 million doses of the vaccine to more than 115 countries.
