MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – At least 6.9 million people in Somalia are facing food and water shrtages, Somali government on Thursday.
Somali Drought Relief Committee has held meeting with the country’s envoy for humanitarian affairs, Abdirahman Abdishakur.

The drought commission shared the envoy with a report over the situation of drought.
According to the report, 66 districts in Somalia have been severely affected by the drought and are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance.
The number of people affected by the drought is estimated at 6.9 million, with the number expected to reach 8 million in the coming months.
“6.9 million Somalis are facing water and food shortages, and that number is estimated to reach at 8 million,” said Abdirahman said in a statement.
The remarks of the envoy comes days after UN expressed concern over the plight of millions of Somalis affected by the severe drought following a three-year drought.
