Mogadishu (Halbeeg News) – Somalia’s senate leadership candidates will today began addressing to the house members, as the Upper House is expected to get its speaker and deputies this week.
According to the committee organizing the election of the House Speakers, the election for the speaker of the Upper House will be elected on April 26.
“The senators will have a meeting tomorrow, April 23, 2022,” reads a note sent to the members.
The three candidates have so far registered to vie for the speaker of the senate with more than nine other candidates enlisted to contest for the first and second Deputies.
The candidates eyeing the speaker include:
1. Abdi Hashi Abdullahi, former senate speaker.
2. Salah Ahmed Jama.
3. Osman Abukar Dubbe, the outgoing information minuster.
The candidates seeking to run for the 1st Deputy position
1. Abdihakim Moalim Ahmed
2. Ali Shaban Ibrahim
The candidates eyeing the 2nd deputy
1. Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail Fartaag.
2. Ilays Baddel Gabose.
3. Abdi Osman Hared.
4. Abdullahi Ali Hersi.
5. Abdweli Mohamed ibrahim.
6. Hared Mohamed Hassan.
7. Hassan Hussein Haji.
