DOHA (Halbeeg News)-The state of Qatar has pledged to support the federal government of Somalia in 2019 financial budget.
The guarantee was made during the meeting between the leaders of the two Arab league members in the capital, Doha on Wednesday.
The Emir, His Highness Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, directed QR 73 million to be provided to Somali government in support for 2019 budget.
Qatari government also promised to invest in the horn of the African state mainly in the farming, livestock and fishing sectors to boost the recuperating economy apart from earlier defence pact between the two nations to help rebuild the armed forces to maintain law and order.
Somali president who was on an official visit to the tiny, prosperous Gulf state was also accompanied by the minister for finance, Abdirahman Duale Beyle whose ministry will be boosted by the budget support from Doha and minister for ports, Maryam Aweys who is also seeking investment by Qatari businesspeople in untapped Somali ports resources.
Somalia and Qatar have developed close relations since the country chose a neutral stance on Gulf states and Egypt blockade on Qatar a year ago.
The recuperating state got major development projects funded by Qatar in return in what analyst belief was a smart diplomatic move.
