On the other hand, Adan Isack Adan aka Zuber has also defected to Somali government forces in the Hudur town in the Bakool region.
There was no immediate comment from the militant group on the latest defections from its group.
The defection of Abdi came as the Somali government under President Hassan Sheikh issued an amnesty program for al-Shabaab fighters who have defected.
Somalia has been plagued by insecurity for years, with al-Shabaab being one of the main threats in the Horn of Africa country.
Since at least 2007, al-Shabaab has waged a deadly campaign against the Somali government and international forces that has claimed thousands of lives.
