Mogadishu (Halbeeg News) – Somali National Army (SNA) has liberated several villages under the control of Al-Shabaab fighters following security operations against Al-Shabaab fighters in central Somalia.
Governor of the Hiiraan region, Ali Jeyte Osman said the government forces engaged in fierce fighting with the group’s fighters in several areas in the Mataban and Mahas districts of the Hiiraan region.
According to the statement, the security operations took place in the last two days. The government forces liberated Bukure, Lassaban, Oomad, Bagda, Qabno and other small villages.
Officials of the 27th division of the national armed forces have confirmed that the operations will continue to liberate more villages in the region.
Al-Shabaab has not yet commented on SNA operations against the group’s fighters.
The group controls several towns and villages in central and southern Somalia.
