BELEDWEYNE (Halbeeg News) – Mohamed Ibrahim Moalimuu, Somali Government spokesperson who returned country recently has today received the certificate of clearance from the Federal Indirect Elections Team (FIET) to contest in the Lower House elections for Hir-Shabelle.
Moalimuu arrived in Beledweyne town of Hiraan region to launch campaign to convince his clan elect him a member of parliament.
According to FIET, Moalimuu had been cleared to run for Member of Parliament.
He was among 11 candidates who were unveiled Saturday to run for Member of Parliament representing Hir-Shabelle State.
Moalimuu returned home last week after more than a month in Turkey for treatment following a suicide bomb attack in Mogadishu.
The spokesperson survived a suicide bomb attack while on his car along Maka al Mukarama street in central Mogadishu on January 16 and was treated locally before being flown to Turkey.
The long serving journalist has survived at least three attacks in the past.
