MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – Somalia’s Federal Indirect Elections Team (FIET) has announced that it will probe elections of seat 103 which was previously held by former Lower House speaker Mohamed Jawari a days after the agency the election of the seat.
FIET chairman Mohamed Hassan Irro told reporters that the seat had been suspended to determine whether it had gone through the legal process.
Irro said the electoral body would probe into the matter which generated political debate.
Chairman said they would meet with all the people involved in the seat, noting that they would look into how the seat was managed and the manner in which his election took place.
The elections of the seat took earlier this week, defying FEIT order to suspend the elections.
Southwest State Indirect Elections Team (FIET) has accused the federal election commission of interfering in its work.
FIET last Saturday suspended the election of the seat which Jawari had sought to contest in following the alleged influence from State President Abdiasis Lafta Gareen to lock him out.
But the South West SIET subsequently announced that elections for seats including the suspended one will go ahead tomorrow.
