MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – Somalia’s Hirshabelle state has lost two of its ministers in less than two months following the murder of the state’s minister for religious and endowment affairs.
Nur Hashi Warsame was shot dead by unknown gunmen late Thursday in the town of Jowhar, the administrative capital of Hirshabelle state.
According to sources, Warsame was shot several times by armed assailants just minutes after evening prayers in the Horsed neighborhood.
The responsibility for the latest attack in Jowhar was claimed by al-Shabaab through its affiliate online media saying its fighters assassinated the minister.
The murder of Warsame comes barely a month after al-Shabaab assassins killed
Hirshabelle State Agriculture Minister Abdukadir Abukar was shot dead after he attended evening prayer.
The gunmen attacked minister Abdukadir Abukar while he was going to his house from a nearby mosque.
Jowhar, is the administrative capital of Hirshabelle State located 90 kilometers (55 miles) north of the capital Mogadishu.
