MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo and Federal Member State leaders have broken the stalemate following a weeklong electoral talks.
In a twelve point communique issued on Thursday evening, the leaders agreed to proceed the process of the upcoming elections by forming federal electoral commission which will cooperate with electoral commissions at the region State levels to steer the country towards 2020/2021 elections.
The leaders said in their communique that the parliamentary elections will be held from November this year with elders, youth and women to take part the selection of electoral delegates who will turn elect the Lower House member as the Upper members will be elected by regional MPs.
The communique states that each member of Lower House will be elected by 101 drawn from his clan.
According to the the agreement, both Senators and lower House member representing clans in Somaliland will be done in Mogadishu.
The sides also agreed this agreement to be tabled before the parliament for approval.
