MOGADISHU ( HALBEEG NEWS) – The Federal Government of Somalia and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) have jointly agreed to deal with challenges related to migration.
The commitment was made during a meeting between Somalia’s Minister for Labor and Social Affairs, Sadik Warfa, and IOM Chief of Mission for Somalia Richard Danziger during a meeting in Mogadishu.
The sides also discussed ways to further cooperate on initiatives to create opportunities for young people to avert the trend that encourages young people to embark on a dangerous journey across the sea.
“Great to welcome IOM chief Richard Danziger discussed a wide range of issues including job creation. IOM continuous to play a big role in supporting immigrants here in Somalia to have an opportunity in the Labour market and our ministry is leading this initiative to create jobs.”
Somalia and IOM signed an agreement in December last year to strengthen cooperation and to work together on migration issues to promote economic and social development.
They have since launched Mission Strategy 2019 – 2021 to working closely together in line with the country’s National Development Plan.
