DJIBOUTI (Halbeeg News) – Somalia has this evening crashed Zimbabwe in the first leg of the 2022 World Cup qualifier match played in Djibouti.
The Ocean Stars won their first qualifier in 35 years thanks to long time and rebuilding of the team.
The team displayed a sterling performance in the 90 minutes humbling Zimbabwe which was led to winning.
Somali Football Federation lauded the team saying the victory was welcomed by Somalia makes history to win its first-ever FIFA World Cup qualifier clash.
Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed commended the team for the victory.
“Congratulations to our Ocean Stars. Your victory is remarkable. You have played purposely. We are eager to receive you back home as you prepare for the return leg,” Somali President Mohamed said in a Twitter post.
