NAIROBI ( Halbeeg News)-A court in Kenya’s capital Nairobi on Monday directed the police to detain a Somali man for 30 days for investigation.
The police had taken Yakub Issa Ahmed before the court barely a week after he was arrested in connection with a hotel attack in Kenyan capital last month.
Yakub was detained along with seven others during security operations across Kenya in the wake of two conservative terror attacks.
According to Kenyan local media, Yakub will be held in custody until the police complete investigation.
Other suspects are Mohammed Hassan Hassan Sheik, HMA (a 15-year-old high school student), Mireh Abdulahi alias Jerry, Ali Issak Ahmed, and Yussuf Maulid Hamed.
The police said the suspects aided the Dusit D2 assailants to execute the attack.
An affidavit by the investigating officer states that indicated that Yakub who is the main suspected met with the attack mastermind, Ali Salim Gichunge prior the attack.
The two met at KFC outlet on Limuru road where they dinned before separating, according to photos captured by CCTV at the counter.
The attack on 15th January which lasted for 18 hours claimed lives of 21 people including two Somalis.
Kenya security forces conducted operations across the country leading the arrest of dozens of suspects.
