MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – AMISOM delegation reached the port city of Kismayo on Saturday. The delegation is led by AMISOM deputy force commander and head of operations, major general Charles Tai Gutuai.
On landing at Kismayo airport, the delegation received a warm reception from AMISOM officials and others top officials from Jubbaland state.
The delegation was immediately escorted to Jubbaland presidential palace where they held meeting with the first deputy president Mohamud Sayid Aden and ministers from Jubbaland cabinet.
The officials discussed wide range issues including spearheading the fight against Al-Shabab, the liberation of Jubbaland territories manned by Al-Shabab fighters and the overall security of the region.
AMISOM deputy force commander and head of operations, Charles Tai said the purpose of his visit to the sectors is to assess the operations of AMISOM troops at the sectors and evaluate the needs of the troops.
The deputy force commander also said that AMISOM together will soon launch security operations in areas held by Al-Shabab in Jubbaland regions.
“One of the issues we would like is to have joint operations with Jubbaland forces and Somali National Army and the critical issues that we want to first of all discuss are those issues and meet how best we can go to joint operations, how we can work together as a team, how can establish targeted operations together” said the deputy force commander.
The deputy force commander also monitored AMISOM camps of KDF, ENDF forces and AMISOM base in Kismayo seaport.
The delegation will also pay a similar visit to other sectors in Baidoa, Beledweyne, and Jowhar to assess the needs of the troops.
