KHARTOUM (Halbeeg News) – The Somali government has summoned all its diplomatic team at the country’s embassy in Sudan over corruption allegations, Somali Foreign Ministry confirmed.
In an interview with BBC Somali Service, Somali Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Isse Awad said the entire team at the embassy were directed to return home.
“The decree is about recalling the chargè d’affaires and all other diplomatic staff including representatives of the government departments, from Sudan forthwith, ” he said.
The minister confirmed that the directive came after the government considered complaints lodged by Somali Students.
“Somali prime minister received reports from Somali nationals and Students during his recent visit to Khartoum, in consideration of their views, the Prime Minister ordered the entire team to return home,” he stated.
Mr. Awad said the government appointed new chargè d’affaires and assistant who will run operations of the embassy.

Somali Prime Minister Hassan Ali Kheire who visited Khartoum early this month held talks with Somali communities and students in Sudan.
In the ceremony organised by the community, the students accused the staff of the Somali embassy in Sudan of engaging in corrupt practices, urging the PM to intervene in the situation.
