GALKAYO (Halbeeg) – A delegation led by UN special representative of the Secretary of the General for Somalia, Michael Keating has arrived in Galkayo town in central Somalia.
The envoy and his delegates were welcomed by the local authorities of the town and other leaders at the airport.
Keating who is accompanied by Somali Police Chief, Bashir Abdi Mohamed will assess the security situation of town which is recovering from deadly inter-state clashes that claimed lives of hundreds.
According to reports, the two leaders will hold talks with the police commanders and local leaders.
Under 2017 Gaalkacyo ceasefire deal, over 100 police officers who to oversee the implementation of the Gaalkacyo Ceasefire Agreement were formed last year.
Galkayo is divided into two zones, where the northern portion forms part of Puntland state, while its southern part is governed by the Galmudug administration.
