The National Security Council meeting which was scheduled kick off on Wednesday in Baidoa town has been put off, official confirmed.
Information minister of South West State, Hassan Mohamed said the conference which is a follow-up of the February meeting in Mogadishu was postponed following deliberations by federal and state leaders.
Mohamed who spoke to the local media has declined to comment on the factors that facilitated the postponement of the meeting.
“What I know is, that the meeting has been called off, I cannot say why and how it happened,” said the minister.
Asked about when it will kick off, Mohamed said he had no more information about the future dates of the meeting.
The meeting was planned to discuss federal and state resource sharing plans and the modality of the elections the country would adopt for 2020 elections.
Somalia’s National Electoral Commission (NEC) was scheduled to table the proposal of the electoral model.
