MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News)-The leaders of Djibouti and Somalia have jointly agreed to strengthen the bilateral and people to people relations.
Ismail Omar Gelle and Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo had extensive discussions in Villa Somalia attended by senior officials from both sides on Saturday.
The two leaders agreed to closely work together on various areas of mutual cooperation mainly in the security sector that involves the fight against terrorism.
President Farmajo thanked his Djibouti counterpart for his country’s role in helping Somali people in the process of state building by organizing peace and reconciliation conference two decades ago.
On his side, president Gelle who appreciated the warm welcomed accorded to him and his delegation and reiterated the commitment by the people and government of Djibouti for a stable, viable and prosperous Somalia.
A Delegation led by Djibouti president, Ismail Omar Gelle arrived in the country for two days’ official state visit.
He will head to Beledweyn, the administrative capital of Hiiran region to visit his country’s troops that are part of African Union peacekeeping operations before preceding over the opening ceremony of the new embassy building in Mogadishu.
