MOGADISHU( Halbeeg News)- The federal government of Somalia is planning to resume the talks with the administration of Somaliland.
Giving exclusive interview to Universal TV, the deputy prime minister of federal government, Mahdi Mohamed Guled said there ongoing efforts aimed to restart the talks between Somalia the breakaway state of Somaliland.
“We will speed up the talks, now our relations with Somaliland are quite good. We are working on the quickest way possible to restart the talks” said the deputy prime minister.
On the other hand the deputy prime expressed hope that the talks will be independent and fruitful adding that Somalia and Somaliland will discuss freely on touching issues that are of great importance to both sides.
“We are ready to come to the table and listen to the grievances of our Somaliland brothers, Somalia cannot afford to go apart, we are brothers. We can discuss our differences amicably through dialogue” the deputy PM added.
The sides have in the past held talks abroad despite lack of comprehensive agreement reached on the touching issues.
Somaliland raised hopes of a breakthrough in February this year after its foreign minister, Sa’ad Ali Shire said Somalia and Somaliland leaders would hold a meeting in Djibouti to pave way for further discussions between the two sides.
