GAROWE (Halbeeg News) – Puntland state’s dispute resolution committee has been accused of trying to implement plans by the state’s incumbent leader, Said Abdullahi Deni to manipulate the process to regional leaders.
According to a joint statement issued by Puntland’s presidential candidates, the committee was said to have colluded with the leader and broke the neutrality.
“We are expressing concern that the current administration is attempting to interfere with the parliamentary selection process. We have concrete information that Said Abdullahi Deni planning to manipulate the process by using the committee for dispute resolution and approval of MPs,” the statement reads in part.
The opposition also accused the incumbent leader of trying to deny some traditional elders rights to take part in the process of selecting members of the upcoming parliament.
“The outgoing President Said Abdullahi Deni will take the responsibility for the negative consequences of the soaring relations of clans, the mobilization of the army, and the creation of tensions in the Garowe town,” the candidates said.
The candidates suggested that the PMPF forces should be removed from the Parliament and replaced by the regular police forces.
