MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – The speaker of the Upper House Abdi Hashi Abdullahi has condoled the death of the minister for Women and Human Rights Development, Khadija Mohamed.
Hashi said that the late Mohamed held different positions in the country and was part of the people who took part in the efforts to re-establish the Somali government after the fall of the central government led by the late Mohamed Siyad Barre in 1991.
The speaker expressed his condolences to her children and relatives of the late Mohamed.
Mohamed who was the longest-serving woman in Somali politics died on Wednesday after a brief illness in Djibouti.
Diriye was instrumental in pushing for increased women’s participation in politics and society. Her indomitable spirit and unwavering commitment to social justice served as an inspiration for many.
