MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – Somali forces have killed more than 69 al-Shabaab fighters and wounded dozens wounded in a security operation in the southwest of the Somali capital, Mogadishu.
Ministry of Defense’s spokesman, Gen. Abdullahi Ali Anod confirmed who confirmed the operation said its forces clashed with al-Shabaab fighters in Dhagahow village about 40km to Bal’ad town.
“Over 49 Al-Shabab terrorists killed in an operation and the forces recovered weapons and another military assortment,” the state-owned-media quoting officials reported.
According to Anod, one SNA soldier was killed during the operation.
Elsewhere in Bay, the government forces killed more than 20 al-Shabaab fighters following clashes with the group in Goof-gudud town, according to Southwest minister for Justice, Hassan Abdulkadir.
Goof-Gadud lies about 30 km north of Baidoa, the administrative capital of Southwest State.
Somali government forces have intensified operations against Al-Shabaab fighters in south-central Somalia.
