MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – Local authorities in the Middle Shabelle region have ferried the bodies of three civilians killed in an explosion near Mahaday town.
According to witnesses, the victims died Sunday after a landmine hit an auto-rickshaw they were travelling in along Burane-Mahaday road.
No group has claimed responsibility for the latest attack but Al-Shabaab is believed to be behind the blast as the group has previously carried out similar attacks on Somalia and AU troops in the Horn of Africa nation.
The tragedy comes barely a day after a lorry was hit by a landmine in southern Somalia, killing at least one person and injuring three others.
According to the state-owned media, Al-Shabaab planted the landmine on the ground to target Somali forces in the Bakool region.
The explosion happened near Quracjome town.
