MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – The Somali government is planning to strengthen its financial reforms thanks to a $30 million Norwegian to World Bank-administered Somali Multi-Partner Fund (MPF).
In a statement, the Somali finance ministry said its minister, Dr Elmi Mohamud Nur held talks with the Minister of International Development of Norway, Anne Beathe in Mogadishu.
Dr Nur said the $30 million will be channelled through the World Bank which is at forefront of the main donors of Somalia.
The minister noted that the funds would be used to improve the country’s financial reform.
“It was a pleasure to welcome Norway’s Minister for International Development, Anne Beathe, to Somalia today. Norway is a strong supporter and contributor to our nation’s economic reforms. Today’s $30 million contribution to the WorldBank Somalia MPF will help our country further,” Minister said.
Norway is one of the European Countries donating to Somalia’s humanitarian aid to help people affected by the successive drought.
