Mogadishu (Halbeeg News) – Somali National Army (SNA) chief, Odowa Yusuf Rageh has vowed to intensified operations against al-Shabaab fighters barely two days after the group attacked Beledweyne town with triple bombing attack.
During a meeting Somali interior minister, Ahmed Moalim Fiqi, Rageh lauded Somali military officials for the latest operations to liberate towns and villages under al-Shabab control.
“We need to enhance operations to annihilate al-Shabaab fighters. Our forces have now captured many towns in central and south of the country. We are planning to widen operations security the country,” Rageh said.
The remarks of the SNA boss come as Somali government is currently involved in a major counterterrorism offensive against al-Shabaab in the central regions of the country.
The operation has gained the support of local tribal militias in Hiran and Galgaduud who have joined forces with federal and state government authorities.
