MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – Somalia’s National Consultative Council meeting which kicked off on Saturday in Mogadishu has entered its second day.
The forum which was presided over Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud was attended by the country’s five regional state leaders, the Prime Minister and the mayor of Mogadishu.
The two-day conference which is expected to concluded today is focusing on priorities for the government.
The leaders will discuss the finalization of the constitution, strengthening inter-governmental relations to pave the way for a stable Somalia at peace with itself, strengthening national security, building a strong judiciary, and responding to the drought and preparing for the country’s elections.
The new president will be banking on the NLF to drive his administration’s agenda including coordinating the humanitarian response considering the devastating drought.
The meeting comes three days after President Mohamud was inaugurated in Mogadishu for his second term in office.
