Nairobi (Halbeeg News) – The President of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta has appointed Maj Gen Thomas Chepkuto to lead the country’s diplomatic mission in Somalia.
Ambassador Chepkuto was among 24 new ambassador and high commissioners assigned to represent the East African nation in different countries.
Kenya’s ambassador to Somalia Chepkuto has previously as Director-General of the Kenyan Space Agency until 29 June 2021.
Chepkuto will replace General (Rtd) Lucas Tumbo who has been serving the post since 2015.
The two countries resumed their diplomatic relations last year following months of severe relations.
President Uhuru also appointed Benson Mwaliko to head the country’s consulate in Hargesia town.
The two East African neighbors share a 700-kilometre border and are in theory allies in the fight against Al Shabaa.
