MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – Elections of last seven parliamentary seats in Southwest state will soon be held in Baidoa, some 250km away from the capital, poll agency confirmed.
Southwest state had concluded the parliamentary elections in the second designated town, Barawe, last Month.
According to Southwest State elections Implementation Team, the candidates vying for seven seats will be registered and their clearance certificates in the forthcoming days.
The electoral delegates sellected the clan elders also be trained.
Below are the 7 seats and their current occupants:
1. HOP181: Mary Maalim Isaaq.
2. HOP204: Ali Adan.
3. HOP197: Abdifatah Mohamed Ibrahim Gesey (former Minister of Public Works and Housing).
4. HOP179: Mohamed Ahmed Mohamed (Garweyne).
5. HOP172: Ali Addow Mohamud, formerly held by South West President Lafta-gareen.
6. HOP164: Mohamed Isaaq Fanax.
7. HOP047: Hanifa Mohamed Ibrahim Habsade (Minister of Women Affairs).
If completed by next week, Southwest state will the second to conclude lower house elections after Somaliland.
