BELEDWEYNE (Halbeeg News) – Somali government spokesman Mohamed Ibrahim Moalimuu has won a parliamentary seat during an in Beledweyne town in Hiiraan region.
According to HirShabelle State Election Implementation Team, Moalimuu has clinched the seat unopposed after his opponent withdraw from the race.
The victory of Moalimuu was welcomed by Prime minister Mohamed Hussein Roble who terming him as brave who endured difficult circumstances he passed through.
Moalimuu returned home last week after more than a month in Turkey for treatment following a suicide bomb attack in Mogadishu.
The spokesperson survived a suicide bomb attack while on his car along Maka al Mukarama street in central Mogadishu on January 16 and was treated locally before being flown to Turkey.
The long serving journalist has survived at least three attacks in the past.
In today’s elections, the following members elected
1. Khalif Abdi Omar who won seat (HOP#032).
2. Osman Mohamed Abdi Daalo who seat (HOP#022).
3. Abdirahman Benebene who grabbed seat (HOP#003).
