HARGEISA (Halbeeg News) – A well-known traditional elder from northern Somalia, Boqor Osman Aw-Mohamued (Buurmadow) has accused Somaliland leader, Muse Bihi Abdi of planning to delay the region’s presidential elections barely two days after Somaliland lawmakers engaged fist fight in the parliament.
Speaking to the media, the elder has blamed Bihi for orchestrating latest political dispute in the region, terming him “spoiler”.
“I would like to tell the International community that the President is spoiler and is objecting to holding an election” Buurmadow said. “I believe that the President had committed an impeachable crime, I would like to encourage the MPs to remove him from office, then deal with the opening of the parties or if need be, work on holding the elections.”
The remarks of Buurmadow comes two days after MPs in Somaliland parliament engaged in a scuffle following the announcement by the government that it would be allowing the registration of more political parties.
The opposition UCID and Waddani opposed the amendment tabled by information minister Saleban Ali Koore last Sunday allowing the registration of new political parties.
