HARGEISA (Halbeeg News) – Somaliland authorities have detained a young comedian for allegedly mocking the region’s leader Muse Bihi Abdi.
The comedian identified as Idris Ilig commonly known as Sayidka Barakaysan reportedly performed parody.
Throughout the first 23 seconds of the clip he showed a Notice stating that the film does not apply to anyone in particular.
During the sketch Sayidka Barakaysan took aim at the President and asked his Commerce minister to make the cost of living more expensive.
The skit was deemed by the authorities to be against the government of President Bihi.
Multiple sources confirmed the arrest of the comedian but the authorities have not yet clearly commented on his arrest.
Somaliland lawmaker Mohamed Abib has criticized the government’s arrest of the actor,
adding relevant authorities will be summoned to the House of Representatives for questioning.
“We strongly condemn all imprisonment, because the laws and regulations of the country guarantee that the public can speak, through drama, poetry and so on.” Said MP Abib.
