MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – Somalia will conclude the elections of the country’s Lower House members late December, the Federal Electoral Implementation Team (FEIT) confirmed.
The federal agency also published a table showing the number of legislators each state will vote for, out of the total 275 MPs and the respective 30 percent women legislators.
In a statement, Ahmed Safina, a spokesman for FEIT has announced the deadline for finalizing the election of the 11th House of the People of the Federal Parliament of Somalia.
“We are sending a message to the three remaining regional administrations of Jubbaland, Puntland and Hirshabelle, to forward the lists of first seats, and I also confirm that the entire election of Lower House will end on December 24,” said Safina.
Meanwhile, South West state has announced the first 11 seats to be contested in the upcoming Lower House elections becoming the third after Somaliland and Galmudug to start off the process.
The State Indirect Elections Team (SIET) unveiled the seats Saturday amid calls for completion of the long-delayed process.
The following seats are set to be contested:

2 – Hop 042
3 – Hop 041
4 – Hop 103
5 – Hop 170
6 – Hop 171
7 – Hop 213
8 – Hop 180
9 – Hop 154
10 – Hop 189
11 – Hop 193
