HARGEISA (Halbeeg News) – Suspected clan militiamen have attacked a Police station in northern Somalia, officials said Monday.
Over 10 gunmen are said to have raided the station in Las-Anod town on Monday.
The officers at the station tried to ward off the attack but were outnumbered, according to locals.
Officials told the media that gunmen forcefully took three murder suspects who were recently saying the motive might be avenge.
The suspects were arrested after they accused of killing two persons on the outskirts of Las-Anod town.
Locals say the gunmen crossed the border into Ethiopia with the suspects.
Sool region in northern Somalia has suffered perennial clan clashes over water and pasture.
The conflict claimed dozens of lives and displaced hundreds of families.
