HARGEISA ( HALBEEG NEWS) – A delegation from Ethiopia has on Wednesday arrived in Hargeisa the capital of the self-declared state of Somaliland.
Led by the Finance Minister Ahmed Shide the dignitaries are scheduled to hold talks with President Muse Bihi Abdi.
The visit by officials from Addis Ababa comes days after a delegation from the Arab Republic of Egypt led by Deputy Foreign Minister Hamdi Sanad Luza arrived for talks.
Addis Ababa and Cairo are at loggerheads over The Grand Renaissance Dam along which is the source of river Nile in Ethiopia.
The landlocked most populous nation is concerned about the interest of Cairo in the red sea with the possibility of deploying its navy.
On the other hand, Egypt is threatened by the Addis Ababa plans to establish a naval base at the Gulf of Aden along the Somali coast.
The Federal Government of Somalia has urged both nations to resolve their difference over the precious commodity (water) through the negotiating table during the Arab League foreign ministers’ online meeting last month.
