MOGADISHU ( HALBEEG NEWS) – Somali President, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has on Tuesday directed relevant federal government agencies to provide urgent help to affected citizens in Qardo.
Atleast ten people were killed and scores others wounded following flooding that swept away buildings in Qardo, Punland state of Somalia.
The torrential Gu rains that have been pounding some parts of the country has resulted in the collapsed of the main bridge in the cultural town on Monday night resulting destruction of homes and other properties.
” Qardo is facing difficult humanitarian situation resulted by the flooding, I am directing relevant federal agencies to speed up liaising their efforts with Puntland state administration in providing help to affected citizens.” President Farmajo said in a statement.
The head of state who consoled with the families that lost their loves in the calamity has appealed for unity in assisting those that lost their livelihood.
” We share the sorrow and grieve with you as we focus our efforts in providing rescue to the most affected.” President Farmajo said.
