NAIROBI ( Halbeeg News) – The editor of BBC Somali service, Abdullahi Sheikh Abdirizack has resigned from his position on Monday.
Rachael Akidi Okwir, the head of the BBC’s East Africa region has confirmed.
Abdullahi joined the service in 13 years ago as a journalist before climping the ladder as the head of the Somali service.
He worked with various department in various cities including the BBC Monitoring section in Nairobi and London respectively.
Former editor wished great success for the young men and women who joined the service during his tenure saying there are professionals with bright future.
It is not immediately clear the main reason behind the surprise resignation but the BBC East Africa director wished well in the experienced Journalists future endeavors.
Abdullahi is remembered for pushing the station to cover/ report sensitive stories among Somali and Muslim audiences following its relocation in Nairobi.
