MOGADISHU ( Halbeeg News) – Somali Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister, Ahmed Isse Awad held talks with the Chinese ambassador, Qin Jian in Mogadishu on Tuesday.
The two discussed ways to further boost people to people relations as well as diplomatic cooperation between Mogadishu and Beijing.
Ambassador Ahmed Isse Awad thanked the Republic of China for the recent education scholarship offered to Somali students by the embassy.
The Foreign Minister also appreciated the role of Beijing in training of Somali diplomatic corps as well as the capacity building for Somali civil servants.
Ambassador Awad called upon the Chinese government to invest in various sectors of interest in the horn of the African nation.
An agreement between the two countries paved way for the Somali government to license Chinese vessels to fish in Somali waters.
Mogadishu which has close ties with Beijing was the latest African state to join belt road agreement during the visit of President Farmajo in Chinese capital earlier this year.
