MANDERA (Halbeeg News) – The driver of abducted Cuban doctors has been arraigned in court in Mandera town for the first time since suspected al-Shabaab militants kidnapped the two doctors.
Isack Ibrein Robow was charged with terrorism and taking part in the plan to kidnap the two foreign doctors who have been operating at Mandera Hospital for more than ten months.
According to the charge sheet, Robow together with others not before the court, of committing a terrorist act that caused the death of constable Mutundo Katambo Ngala during the abduction.
Constable Mutundo was deployed to offer escort duties to Dr. Assel Herrera and Dr. Landy Rodriguez Hernandez.
The incident happened on April 12, 2019, around 0900 hours at Banisa stage in Mandera town.
Robow pleaded not guilty, saying he has no involvement in the process to kidnap the doctors and did not cause the death of the soldier.
In an affidavit, the prosecution opposed his release on bail.
