NAIROBI (Halbeeg News)-The presidents of Somalia and Kenya, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo and Uhuru Kenyatta are having a meeting in Kenyan capital, Nairobi on Wednesday.
The meeting between the leaders focuses on cementing diplomatic relations between neighbouring states as sources close to the circle confirm.
Ethiopia’s premier Abiy Ahmed broker the meeting between two head of states.
Somali president, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo and Ethiopian Prime Minister, Abiy Ahmed arrived in Kenyan capital, Nairobi on Tuesday evening following an invitation by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The meeting between Uhuru and Farmajo will solely emphasise on strengthening relations between Mogadishu and Nairobi following a diplomatic row that followed after the two neighbouring states battled it out in the international court of justice over the disputed rich maritime borders along the two countries.
Sources privy to the meeting between the leaders of Somalia and Ethiopia in Addis Ababa on Tuesday confirmed that Somalia will not back down its idea of the case being resolved at the international justice court, based in The Hague, the in the Netherlands.
A move by the Kenyan government to isolate Somalia in the international arena to force the Horn of the African state to accept solving the case in out of court was unsuccessful.
Kenyan foreign affairs minister, Monica Juma, travelled to Egypt to meet, President, Abdulfatah Al- Sisi who is the current AU chairman to intervene the case while passing over the New Delhi, India and met envoys except Somalia’s for lobby during joint India, Kenya commission meeting.
