MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News)-Somalia and South African governments have agreed to cooperate on the education sector between the two countries.
The two African states have approved to cement support on the various areas of education mainly in the skills and exchange of experts on both sides for training.
The agreement was reached during the visit of Somalia’s education minister, Abdullahi Godax Barre who met his counterpart, in Pretoria.
The two ministers have agreed to further cooperate on the areas of research and modern technology.
Minister Godah said his country would soon receive experts and trainers from South Africa’s education ministry to further implement the agreements between the two states.
On her part, South Africa education minister, Grace Naledi Mandisa Pandor lauded Somalia’s role in supporting her country against the apartheid colonial government adding that it is the time to return the favor by helping the rebuild Somalia’s institutions.
Before the collapse of the central government in Somalia in the early 1990s, Mogadishu and Pretoria had stable diplomatic relations rejuvenated by Pan African movement.
