MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News)-Somali Prime Minister, Hassan Ali Kheyre has led inauguration ceremony for more than 1400 new police officers in Mogadishu on Wednesday.
The PM accompanied by Security Minister, Mohamed Abukar Islow Ducale and senior security officials attended the colorful ceremony at General Kahiye Somali police academy.
The new officers who completed their training are part of 3,000 police officers meant to boost the security of the capital, Mogadishu in a new security strategy.
Hassan Kheyre has urged the new recruits to gear up to beef up the security of the city.
He urged them to respect the rule of the law while performing their national duties in their respective stations.
Improving security is one of the main pledges made by President Farmajo and Prime Minister Kheyre government.
AMISOM, EU, and Turkey are involved in helping the federal government to equip and train the police force in an effort to take full control of the stabilization process.
