ADDIS ABABA (Halbeeg News) – Ethiopia’s Federal police have intercepted weapons in an operation conducted in the country’s capital city, Addis Ababa on Monday.
Police officials told reporters that the weapons were smuggled into the capital but were intercepted following tips from the community.
The weapons include three machine guns, number of A47 riffles, magazines, and ammunition.
“These weapons have been transported in the city but based on community tip-offs, the forces have while being illegally transported in the city,” said police official.
The move comes barely six months after Ethiopian police confiscated over 1,000 pistols and about 4,000 munitions hidden in the tanker of a fuel truck.
During that time, three suspects were also arrested in connection with the importation of the illegal weapons.
