GAROWE (Halbeeg News)-Somali president, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has pledged to resolve the standoff with the leaders of the federal member states in the country.
The head of state was speaking in Garowe, the administrative capital of Puntland regional state during the inauguration ceremony of Said Abdullahi Deni on Saturday night.
“I pledge to closely work with all leaders of the federal member states as well as the members of parliament across the country.” the president said. “As an elder, I will stand up to resolve the difference between us,” he added.
President Farmajo reiterated the move to drive the country forward.
While declaring his forgiveness to all leaders across the political spectrum in the country the president underscored the need to engage in the spirit of forgiveness.
“I forgive everyone, and I also call on your forgiveness as well,” he said.
Somali leader, however, called upon the opposition parties to exercise their political rights by putting the interest of the nation first in their agendas.
“We need to know that opposition political party is essential, but it should stand with the government and people when things are tough.”
Former Somali leaders, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, Sheikh Sharif Ahmed, Former PM Ali Mohamed Gedi, Officials from the United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM), IGAD and members of the diplomatic core were present at the inauguration ceremony.
