ADDIS ABABA ( Halbeeg News)- The president of the Somali regional state of Ethiopia, Mustafa Muhumed is in the capital, Addis Ababa to hold talks with the Federal government.
President Mustafa and more than ten officials who are part of his delegation are expected to meet Ethiopian prime minister, Abiy Ahmed Ali in an effort to resolve the standoff with the federal government.
The political difference which emerged last week is deeply rooted on the stand by new Ethio-Somali regional state leadership concerning the fate of former officials that served in the previous administrations.
Despite efforts led by the leader of Somali democratic party of Ethiopia, Ahmed Shide ease the situation, state’s President wants all officials served under the leadership of the former president, Abdi Mohamed Omar being prosecuted for the human rights violations.
The development comes on the heel of Ethio-Somali regional state leader remarks that his administrations foiled plans to destabilize the region by what he termed as the remnants of the former regime.
Speaking to Addis standard on Friday, Mustafa said, the former military officials are working hard to return his administration back to the past dark days by trying to keep fellows in the regional state affairs.
The details emerge just a day after Ethiopian attorney general office published a list of people harmed during three days’ violence in Jigjiga, the capital of Somali regional state of Ethiopia.
Accordingly, to the Attorney General’s office, 58 people were killed, 266 injured, and ten women were raped in just a span of three days on the weekend of August 04.
Zinabu Tunu, Public Relations officer at the Federal Attorney General’s office told local journalists this afternoon that its investigations into the three days’ violence in Jigjiga, the capital of the Somali regional state, in August 2018 were completed.
The AG’s office also revealed the extent of the three days’ damage which was previously unreported, including the discovery of a mass grave where the remains of 42 people were found.
Eight more bodies were discovered inside the premises of St. Michael Church in Jigjiga city.
