BAIDOA (Halbeeg News) – The leaders from the southwest regional state of Somalia are seeking the release of the former Alshabab Deputy leader, Mukhtar Robow Abu Mansour to spearhead the ongoing reconciliation process in the administration.
Led by the speaker of the Somali lower house of parliament, Mohamed Mursal Sheikh Abdulrahman and southwest state president, Abdulaziz Hassan Mohamed Lafta Garen, they held various meetings with the representatives from the traditional elders, youth, women and community leaders in the area for the past week in an effort to foster peace and stability following violent clashes in December last year after the arrest of candidate Mukhtar Robow.
“We are working towards the release of Mukhtar Robow from the custody.” speaker Mursal said.
The speaker disclosed that they are discussing with federal government leaders including president Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo and prime minister Hassan Ali Kheyre for intervention.
“We have agreed with both the president and the prime minister about the freedom of Mukhtar Robow.’ He said, adding “We are yet not sure about his fate after his release from custody, whether he will be a private citizen or part of the federal government officials.”
President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo had met with traditional regional leaders in Baidoa last week to discuss the reconciliation process in the administration after the inauguration ceremony of a state leader, Abdulaziz Hassan Mohamed Lafta Garen.
