ADDIS ABABA (Halbeeg News) – Senior leadership of the Ogaden National Liberation Front (ONLF) has arrived in Ethiopia on Saturday.
The arrival of the delegation led by the group’s chairman Mohamed Omar comes a week after forces loyal to the group returned to the Somali regional state from their base in Eritrea.
Upon arrival, the delegation was received by Ahmed Shide, Chairperson of the Somali People’s Democratic Party (SPDP), and Mustafa Omar the president of the Somali state in Ethiopia, according to FANA.
Some of the members are holding a meeting with Ethiopian officials at the Hilton Hotel in Addis Ababa town.
They are accompanied by Ambassador Birtukan Ayano, Ethiopian state minister at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The government and the Front signed a peace deal in the Eritrean capital Asmara last month.
The two sides reached a historic deal that allowed the ONLF to undertake peaceful political struggle in Ethiopia.
