MOGADISHU (Halbeeg News) – Somali Security agencies on Thursday said they arrested a suspect linked to deadly Sahafi hotel attack in Mogadishu early this month.
In a statement, the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) confirmed on Thursday that one of the masterminds of the triple bombings at Sahafi hotel had been detained during a covert operation in the capital.
NISA did not offer further details of the suspect.
On 9th of this Month, Al-Shabaab fighters had attacked Sahafi Hotel by using a vehicle packed with explosives to blast their way into a major hotel.
Somali government forces said they blocked the assailants from entering the building.
The attacked which immediately claimed by the group’s spokesman Abdulaziz Abu Musab has killed over fifty people and injured more others.
The Sahafi Hotel is mainly frequented by Somali politicians, lawmakers, business people, and other well-to-do guests.
It is a regular meeting place for very influential people in Mogadishu.
It is situated close to Km4 roundabout, one of the busiest road intersections in Mogadishu.
It links the city’s seaport, airport, and Villa Somalia— the State House.
