HARGEISA (Halbeeg News) – The leader of the breakaway Somaliland, Musa Bihi Abdi on Saturday reshuffled his cabinet for the first time since he assumed the office late last year.
In a press statement, Mr. Abdi has named new foreign Minister for the region which has been struggling to gain international recognition since the 1990s.
Yasin Haji Mohamud who previously served as the minister for education was appointed to lead Somaliland Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Mr. Mohamud will be replacing Saad Ali Shire who has been serving as the chief diplomat of Somaliland since 2015.
In new line up tabled by President Abdi, Mr. Shire has been shifted to the ministry of finance.
According to the statement, Abdikadir Mohamud Mohumed Warsame who has been deputising the minister for education was moved to the ministry for Finance to serve as the deputy minister.
Others are:
Yusuf Mohamed Abdi Rage – Former Finance minister has been shifted as a member of the Higher education Commission (HEC).
Osman Jama Adan Iman has been appointed as the new minister in charge of education and science ministry.
Mohamed Farah Hared Qodah – Former Director-General to the ministry in charge of education and Science has been moved as a member of Higher Education Commission (HEC).
Mohamed Dahir Ahmed Furreh – Ex-deputy minister for finance was moved to be the assistant minister for education and science.
Ahmed Abokor Mohamed Yuusuf – former director general of the investment ministry has been shifted as the Director-General to the ministry of education and science.
Ms. Fatumo Abdilahi Omar Dirie has also been named as the deputy director of the Disaster Preparedness and Food Storage Agency
Ms. Deka Abdi Yusuf Dhidar is nominated as the Director General of the ministry of investment.
